Frequently Asked Questions

What fabric should I use for a chest rig?

500D Cordura nylon is the standard for modern tactical gear. It is durable, PU-coated for water resistance, and light enough for comfortable wear. Use 1000D Cordura if you want maximum abrasion resistance and do not mind the extra weight.

What is MOLLE/PALS webbing?

MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) uses a grid of 1-inch nylon webbing strips sewn in rows with 1.5-inch bartack spacing. Compatible pouches weave through the webbing rows to attach. This pattern generates a panel with the correct grid dimensions and marks all bartack positions.

Will this fit standard SAPI plates?

Yes. The plate pocket is sized to SAPI specifications for small (7¼ × 9½"), medium (8¾ × 11¼"), large (9½ × 12¼"), and XL (10½ × 13¼") plates with 3/8" clearance per side and a 1.25" gusset depth to accommodate hard armor up to about 1.1" thick.

What thread should I use?

Use bonded nylon thread TEX 70 or heavier for all seams and bartacks. Standard polyester thread will not hold under the load of plates and magazines. A denim 100/16 needle handles multiple layers of Cordura without skipped stitches.
