Step 1: Take Your Measurements

Wear fitted underwear or a leotard, use a flexible sewing tape measure, and measure twice to confirm each number.

Step 2: Enter and Save Your Profile

Log into your People's Patterns account and navigate to the measurement wizard. As you enter each number, the system saves your progress automatically. You do not need to finish all measurements in one sitting -- you can come back later and pick up where you left off.

Once all required measurements are entered, your body measurements profile is complete and saved. You will see a summary page showing all your saved numbers. Take a moment to review them and make sure everything looks right.

Your body measurements profile is now linked to your account and available for pattern generation. From this point forward, when you choose any garment from the catalog, the generator knows your measurements without you having to enter them again.

Step 3: Generate Patterns From Your Saved Profile

Here is where the convenience kicks in. Go to the pattern catalog, pick any garment -- a tee, jeans, a skirt, whatever catches your eye -- and start configuring your style options. The generator automatically pulls the relevant measurements from your body measurements profile.

Managing Multiple Measurement Profiles

If you sew for other people -- family members, friends, or clients -- you can create multiple body measurements profiles on your account. Each profile has its own set of measurements and its own name.

To add a new profile:

1. Go to your account settings and find the measurement profiles section.
2. Click "Add New Profile" and give it a name (such as the person's name).
3. Enter that person's measurements using the same wizard.
4. Save the profile.

When generating a pattern, select which body measurements profile to use. The generator drafts the pattern using that specific profile's numbers. This is especially useful for parents sewing for children, or anyone who makes garments as gifts.

There is no limit to how many profiles you can create. Each one is independent, and switching between them takes just one click.

Updating Your Measurements When Your Body Changes

Bodies change over time. Weight fluctuations, fitness changes, aging, pregnancy -- all of these can shift your measurements. When that happens, updating your body measurements profile is straightforward.

1. Retake the measurements that have changed (you do not need to redo all of them, just the ones that feel different).
2. Log into your account and navigate to your profile.
3. Update the specific values.
4. Save.

All future patterns will use your updated numbers. And here is an important detail: you can regenerate any previously purchased pattern with your new measurements at no extra charge. Your pattern library stays with your account permanently, and regenerating with updated measurements is always free.
